College and University Web Sites

By now, practically all schools
have a Web site, and they are usually well developed Web
sites that provide a lot of information. In addition to
a university's main Web site, many college and departmental
Web sites may exist. For example, you could visit
Ohio University's main Web site at www.ohiou.edu, or you could
visit the Web site for OU's College of Business at
www.cob.ohiou.edu/.
What kind of information
might I find by visiting a university Web site?
If you are in the process of choosing a college to attend, a
visit to a school's Web site can be a valuable step in that
process. You will find a lot of the same information you
would find in various printed publications on colleges and
universities, such as:
-
admissions and financial aid (online
applications may be available)
-
academic majors and programs
-
university profile (size, diversity
in student body, online campus tour, etc.)
-
campus profile (student organizations,
activities, facilities, etc.)
-
course catalog, may be online for some
schools
