This page focuses on grants. For a broader discussion of
financial aid, go to our Financial Aid
page.
Grants encompass a broad range of funding assistance for
education-related pursuits. A comprehensive discussion of grants
would actually include grants to non-educational organizations
such as corporations and non-profit/charitable organizations.
Often, education related grants provide funding support for a
group or organization rather than individual students. For
example, a particular department at a college might apply for a
grant to engage in a special research project. And, grants
to individuals are often based on a request by the individual to
undertake a research project. Consequently, grants are
probably the least significant source of financial assistance for
high school students seeking financial aid for college. But,
they may become more significant to you as an upper level
undergraduate student or a graduate student.
